July 28, 2022 Campsite at mile 1602.9 to campsite at mile 1625.5 22.6 miles The sunrise is so orange it looks fake. It drips over the world and wakes me, though I am still very groggy. Will I ever get a good night’s sleep again? I need one. I stay horizontal for as long as …

PCT Day 100: ONE HUNDO

July 27, 2022 Etna via Etna Summit Trailhead at mile 1599.7 to campsite at mile 1602.9 3.2 miles We wake up slowly. I love the feeling of not having to rush around to get to something or be on trail at a certain time. I do a few assorted tasks like throwing away my trash …

PCT Day 99: Nero to Etna

July 26, 2022 Campsite at mile 1586.1 to Etna via Etna Summit Trailhead at mile 1599.7 13.6 miles We’re up and moving by 6. It’s not as early as some of the other people at this campsite, but it’s about all we can manage today. But it’s a town day, and there is a restaurant …

PCT Day 98: Shattered

July 25, 2022 Scott Mountain Campground at mile 1560.3 to campsite at mile 1586.1 25.8 miles My alarm goes off at the disturbing time of 4:35, and I immediately set about the very important work of ignoring it. I hear Jumbo and Tribute rustling around for at least 15 minutes, but it’s as if my …

PCT Day 97: Big Lounge Energy

July 24, 2022 Deadfall Lakes at mile 1536.8 to Scott Mountain Campground at mile 1560.3 23.5 miles I wake up when the soft pink light starts growing brighter. It’s 5:30, kind of late for us to wake up, but no one is moving. I turn to my side and look down at the lake. Oh, …

PCT Day 96: Finally, Views!

On July 31, 2022July 31, 2022 By Sarahmarie Specht-BirdIn Pacific Crest Trail, Thru-HikeLeave a comment

July 23, 2022 Campsite at Disappearing Creek, mile ~1511.2 to Deadfall Lakes at mile 1536.8 25.6 miles I am conscious far earlier than I would like to be, but I suppose this is not an unusual sensation. I pull myself up and eat breakfast, then start packing up. I don’t put my contacts in because …

happy fall y’all 🍁 good vibes recently here in the ohio river valley ☺️ Ask me what I love, and I will show you Living in a field of vision The only thing I’m more obsessed with than King Gizz is the people I’ve met because of them… ok and maybe also Chicago food 🌭🍕 King Gizzard at Forest Hills Stadium, August 1-2, 2025: one night of orchestra (fancy!), one night of classic Gizz rock and roll. Back to back days of musical wizardry, camaraderie, and joy. I’m so happy I’m alive at the same time as this band and everyone who loves them. Onto the next one! 🎶🐊 Cdmx con @monica.e.pence 🇲🇽❤️ It’s the journey that matters in the end. But it sure was nice to finally see the official end of the PCT anyway. Earlier this summer I spent three weeks in Japan with my adventure mom @spechtmarla!
